American Oystercatcher coming in for a soft landing on Sunset Beach, NC in June. One of a pair that spent the day guarding and feeding a single chick, mostly mussels. The pair appeared to be very loyal to the family unit and were protective against other oystercatchers and willets that entered their territory in the dunes.
